Have you ever wondered what your average fragrantly-challenged Beijing taxi driver would look like dressed up in glam drag? If yes, now it’s time to stop wondering. Little known TenBar, a gay drag and male escort bar, has just upped itself from its old digs near Beijing Zhan and has sashayed down to Temple of Heaven East Gate. With nightly shows from 10pm to midnight, TenBar could be a pre-game destination if you have a hankering to watch Chairman Mao-looking drag queens and muscle-boys dressed in slinky leopard outfits. Prices are reasonable and a fully stocked bar is available, but we won’t vouch for the quality of their booze
This Friday at LAN Club, Gayographic will be holding a special charity drag event for the Beijing LGBT Center and Gayspot magazine. In honor of all the hard work those folks have been doing to educate and improve the gay community in the capital, Drewscilla Queen of the Peasants and the legendary May May will both be taking the stage and the mic. Gayspot Chief Editor, Zhao Ke, will also make her fagulous debutante in drag. You don’t want to miss it! As always, drinks will be half price, which will be sure to get you sauced up for the saucy show by two our two fabulous divas. So don’t miss this event; it is sure to be a DRAG! Entrance 30RMB. All proceeds from entrance fees collected and drink sales will be donated to the Beijing LGBT Center and Gayspot magazine.

A new “family-owned” Italian restaurant has just opened its doors behind International Wonderland in Xingfuercun. Though a tad hard to find, this cozy little place serves up inexpensive and hearty Italian fare, complete with a large wood-fired oven. Scott’s Family Italian Cuisine & Bar opened with a special all-you-can-eat and drink invitation event. “All-you-can-drink” was all it took to get the whole Gayographic crew to crash that party and sip sparkling wine and sample the many dishes, with the carboneera pizza being a personal favorite. Looking over the menu, we were happily surprised by the inexpensive prices.
We here at Gayographic like to think of ourselves as the oracle of the Beijing gay scene, but we are small potatoes compared with Utopia Asia, which has been around since time immemorial (1995). Utopia Asia, THE gay listings site for Asia, covers the gay scenes from Korea to Myanmar, and everywhere in between. From gay restaurants, bars, saunas, to the best place to cruise in a park, Utopia lists it all, and was the major inspiration for Gayographic. We recently meet up with one of the directors of Utopia Asia and he gave us the dish on all the new plans they have for updating the site with new features. One feature, which was recently launched, is an interactive map of Beijing showing all the gay sites to be seen
Our friends over at Greening the Beige, the Gayographic of the Green Community, opens its 3rd Annual Event: RE-ENERGIZE BEIJING! with eco-art photography, installations, a silent auction, and performances by Beijing Dance/LDTX and Beijing Improv.
We receive a lot of feedback from the community regarding events and one of the most often heard comments regarding Friday’s Gayographic night at LAN Club is that the space is too small because of the central bar, which hinders interaction and dance. We’ve decided to mix things up this Friday and move to a bigger, more open space on the opposite side of the club. Called the Progression Room, it is much more spacious and open area with the bar along the side, rather than in the middle of the room. For those who attended Acupuncture’s Halloween party, it is the same room as the Techno Room from that night. There will also be a special entrance area so that all you divas can arrive in style. We will, of course, keep the same theme of 2 for 1 drinks all evening, and
