We’re kicking off the first of our series of summertime parties at Yin Bar on the rooftop of Emperor Hotel with a shotgun wedding/dual birthday party. Since birthday parties are becoming quite cliché as of late, our American friend JP will be mixing things up by presenting us with a full-blown wedding on the fabulous Yin Bar rooftop, in which both bride and groom will be celebrating their birthday’s. Presiding over the ceremony as a representative of God (or his archenemy – we’re not too sure) will be the legendary Michael Williams; back in Beijing after his blow-out tour of Manhattan, which ended with New York City health officials giving him the boot for being a public health menace. Happy-hour specials for the evening will be 10pm
Gayographic held its first organized event at Yin Bar on the rooftop of Emperor Hotel to give a pink goodbye to our friend Michael Langley and to kick off the summer season with cocktails on arguably the best rooftop bar in Beijing. Emperor of the night, Michael, had an extremely memorable evening with many friends throughout the years making an appearance to wish him safe travels to his next post in Jakarta. Our initial expectations were once again exceeded by a clear mile with over 300 people showing up to drink the night away while viewing the ghostly silhouette of the former palaces of emperors of yore. Granted, we could not have asked for better weather: pleasingly warm and clear, weather that is more fable than reality in this
Another long-time member of our pink community is packing his bags and waving goodbye to Gayjing. Michael Langley, who has been around long enough to remember SARS in Beijing, is off to a new life in Jakarta. But no gay man who has been around as long as Mike can leave without a bang. The amazing roof-top of the Emperor Hotel’s Yin Bar, which overlooks the Forbidden City and Jingshan Park, will be the location of this bon voyage soiree. From 9pm to 1am, it will be two-for-one drinks with the perennial summer favorite Mojito going for a cool 75 kuai for two. So come kick-off the summer season by sipping on cocktails while overlooking the Forbidden City on a warm summer evening; now that’s summer partying Beijing-style.
