Back in March, 15 flamboyant and equally enthusiastic dancers found their way to the White Rabbit, one of our favorite dark and
underground dance venues. The occasion was a gay dance-a-thon of sorts, organized to raise funds for China’s own marathoner, Popo Fan. Popo is marathoner who is set to represent China in the upcoming Outgames being held in Copenhagen in August. Popo will of course run in his marathon and not dance his way to the finish line, but his supporters did spend 5 hours on their feet, or roller skates, filling up pledge sheets and working up a sweat. This was just one event in recent months used to build support and gain the money needed to send Popo to Denmark. On that particular night in March, over 20,000rmb was raised by the dancers, who gave of their feet and legs to make the event a success. We’re all wishing Popo much success at the Outgames.
